Today the crew began prepping the exterior for painting the siding. You've all seen the colors before (I refer you to Up One Side... post if not) on the blog but we can't wait to see them in living color on the walls. We're looking forward to not having it be a big gray blob.
The masons began stoning the chimney. We selected a cutface-style stone in a mix of grays and browns. They apply it with a technique called "dry stacking," which basically means that there are no mortared joints in between the stones, they are placed right on top of one another.
Drywalling also began today. They had to load the second floor sheets through the master bath window. After today's delivery, that window can finally be installed. I've got some great shots below of the winch lifting the drywall through the windows. At the end of the day, we had the 2nd floor bedroom fully walled and they started on the master bedroom.
Since the living room was not yet insulated, Clark and Scott (our builder) worked on installing stereo wire for the surround sound in the morning. By quitting time, the living room was fully insulated and ready for the drywalling to begin.
